Brown Family receipt books [manuscript], 1806-1835.

Receipt book, 1806, of Bezaleel Brown, Sheriff of Albemarle County, Va., records the receipt of sums collected on execution of suits in county courts. Signatures include J.S. Barbour, P.P. Barbour, Dabney Carr, Martin Dawson, Alexander Garrett, David Higginbotham, Dabney Minor, Hugh Nelson, Thomas Mann Randolph, John Walker, and Charles Wertenbaker acting as attorneys for various clients including Hore B. Trist. In addition the collection contains the tax receipt book, 1806, of J.D. Jarman for a portion of St. Anne's Parish, Albemarle County; which also contains records of county court cases, and a list of writs returnable; a blacksmith's journal, 1835, of William T. Brown; a bailbond, 1808, Thomas W. Gooch to Thomas Garth; and a letter, 1806 March 3, Thomas Garth to John Henderson re the delivery of a financial note. Blacksmith account book, 1835, of William T.
